[Video Goals] Liverpool 2-0 Watford: Firmino Seals Comfortable Reds Win
Europa League finalists Liverpool eased to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Watford at Anfield this afternoon thanks to goals from Joe Allen and Roberto Firmino.
Jurgen Klopp made some changes from the side that beat Villarreal on Thursday night but it didn’t affect the hosts as they opened the scoring in the 35th minute through Allen as the midfielder got on the end of a Christian Benteke knock down to slot home.
Liverpool controlled much of the game but had to wait until the 76th minute to secure the three points as Firmino’s shot from the edge of the area found the back of the net – although Gomes will no doubt feel he should have done better.
The win sees Liverpool remain eighth in the Premier League table but they can climb up to sixth if they beat Chelsea at Anfield in midweek.
