Brazilian Star To Demand Move Amid Interest From Arsenal, Chelsea & Man Utd
Brazilian defender Marquinhos will demand to leave PSG this summer with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all ready to battle-it-out over his signature
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, several clubs are linked with Marquinhos….
Brazilian defender Marquinhos will demand to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all ready to battle-it-out over his signature, according to the Express.
Marquinhos joined PSG from Roma in 2013 but after an encouraging start to life in France he’s fallen out-of-favour at the Ligue 1 champions with boss Laurent Blanc opting to play David Luiz alongside Thiago Silva in the centre of defence.
Even when he has started, the Brazilian international has often been forced to play out of position at right-back and he was once again left on the bench for PSG’s Champions League quarter final clash with Manchester City.
The Express are citing reports coming out of Spain that claim Marquinhos has become increasingly frustrated with life on the bench and will demand to leave the Parc des Princes when he holds crunch talks with the club’s board at the end of the season.
Earlier in the season, the 21-year-old admitted that he was unable to commit his long-term future to PSG and would assess his situation in the summer. Marquinhos is quoted as saying by the Express:
”My future is in Paris? At the moment, yes. But I can only speak of the present.
“For now, I’m in Paris. Everyone knows you have to have a reflection at the end of the season. We’ll talk about the objectives of the club and of me personally.
“Right now, I try to be professional. I try to work to win my place and to have playing time.
“We’ll see how the season will finish. Afterwards, there will be a reflection.”
Understandably, there will be no shortage of interest with the newspaper suggesting that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all ready to battle-it-out to try and lure Marquinhos to the Premier League this summer.
Arsene Wenger is under increasing pressure to strengthen his squad after the Gunners blew their best chance to win the title in over a decade and the Frenchman has already suggested he needs to strengthen his defence with neither Per Mertesacker or Gabriel proving to be a reliable partner for Laurent Koscielny.
Chelsea are also on the look-out for a new centre-back to replace skipper John Terry while United could certainly do with another top class defender to partner Chris Smalling, and Marquinhos would be an excellent signing for any of the three English sides.
