Transfer News: 36-Goal Man Utd & Chelsea Target Keen On Liverpool Move

A 36-goal striker who’s attracted interest from Manchester United and Chelsea is reportedly keen on joining Liverpool. See full details here

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Gonzalo Higuain is linked with Liverpool….

Gonzalo Higuain is keen on joining Liverpool in order to work under Jurgen Klopp as the Argentinean international striker looks to force a move away from Napoli this summer, according to the Mirror.

Higuain has just come off the back of a sensational campaign that saw him score an incredible 36 goals in just 35 Serie A games for Napoli as they finished runners-up to eventual champions Juventus.

That sort of form has attracted interest from the Premier League with the Mirror reporting last week that new Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wanted Higuain to lead the line in his new-look team at Old Trafford next season.

Chelsea have also been strongly linked with a move for the South American with the Metro reporting earlier this month that the Blues had already held formal talks with Napoli over a potential £65m deal as new boss Antonio Conte looks to bring in support for Diego Costa up front.

However, it looks as though the English duo could yet face more competition as the Mirror claim that Higuain actually fancies a move to Liverpool as he’s supposedly keen to work under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

The newspaper says that the 28-year-old wants to quit Napoli this summer in search of a new challenge and is surprised Liverpool haven’t made any formal move for his services as he’d be open to the idea of moving to Merseyside, despite the fact Liverpool have no European football to offer.

Klopp has been busy rebuilding his squad with goalkeeper Loris Karius recently following defender Joel Matip and midfielder Marko Grujic to Anfield the summer but a new striker could also be needed with Christian Benteke’s future in severe doubt.

Higuain would obviously be a sensational signing for Liverpool as he’s one of the most feared strikers in European football having scored 71 goals in just 104 Serie A games since joining Napoli from Real Madrid three years ago.

It remains to be seen whether Klopp will now step-up his interest in the striker following these reports but with a hefty price-tag on his head, Liverpool could be priced out of a move which would open the door for the likes of Chelsea or United – who could more easily afford Higuain’s reported £65m asking price.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but Higuain would be a sensational signing for any of the three English clubs being linked and I’d love to see him plying his trade in the Premier League next season.
