Chelsea and Manchester United are among the clubs who are in active talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential £46.5m (€60m) deal to sign Marquinhos this summer, according to Get French Football.
Marquinhos joined PSG from Roma in 2013 but after an encouraging start to life in France he fell out-of-favour under Laurent Blanc after David Luiz was brought in to partner Thiago Silva in the middle of defence.
The 22-year-old has been forced to play out-of -position at right-back on several occasions and was left on the bench for key Champions League games against Manchester City in the quarter finals of the Champions League.
There has been widespread speculation suggesting Marquinhos has grown tired of his bit-part role at the Parc des Princes and will push for a move this summer if he isn’t given assurances he’ll be given a more prominent role at centre-back next season.
That appears unlikely given Silva and Luiz aren’t expected to go anywhere this summer so a move could be on the cards and it appears the Brazilian international could be offered a fresh start here in the Premier League.
Get French Football are citing a report coming out of Brazil which claims that Chelsea and Manchester United are among the clubs who are in active talks over a potential deal for the unsettled defender.
New United boss Jose Mourinho is expected to be busy in the market this summer and a top class partner for Chris Smalling could be on the agenda while incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is also likely to be on the look-out for a long-term replacement for John Terry.
Marquinhos would be a sensational signing if either club could pull it off as he’s one of the best young centre-backs in world football and would have plenty to prove following a frustrating three year spell in France.
However, any deal isn’t going to be easy as Get French Football suggests that the players preferred destination would be Barcelona and the Catalans are understood to be showing a keen interest in luring Marquinhos to the Nou Camp.

PSG are keen to keep hold of the centre-back and the news outlet states that they’ve already rejected a £31m offer from an unnamed club and will demand a fee closer to £46.5m (€60m) to sell Marquinhos this summer.
If these reports prove accurate, then Chelsea and United will have to dig deep if they want to sign the South American but I think he’d be a risk worth taking as Marquinhos could prove to be an excellent signing for either club.
