French International Confirms He Wants To Join Arsenal This Summer
Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko has expressed his desire to join Arsenal this summer after describing the Gunners as one of the best teams in Europe
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Moussa Sissoko…..
Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko has expressed his desire to join Arsenal this summer after describing the Gunners as one of the best teams in Europe, according to Get French Football.
Sissoko has just come off the back of another solid season at St James’ Park but was unable to prevent the Magpies from relegation to the Championship after finishing 18th in the Premier League table last season.
The Frenchman is one of several international stars who are expected to leave Newcastle this summer and the Mirror reported last month that Arsenal were showing a keen interest in making a £10m move for Sissoko.
The 26-year-old has long been linked with a move to the Emirates and it looks as though he’s desperate to finally fulfill his childhood dream of playing for the Gunners after being quoted in an interview as saying he’d be unable to turn down a move to the ‘club of his heart’.
After being asked about the reported interest from Arsenal, Sissoko is quoted by Get French Football News as saying that he’s flattered to have caught the attention of one of the best teams in Europe and would jump at the chance of following the likes of Thierry Henry, Robert Pirès, Sylvain Wiltord and his idol Patrick Vieira in playing for the Gunners.
However, Sissoko says he doesn’t know if a move will end up coming to fruition and insists he’ll leave negotiations to his advisors as he’s focussed on this summers European Championships.
It is very flattering. Arsenal is one of the best European teams. To be watched by that sort of club, that proves that you are a quality player. It is good to know. I hope that I will have the chance, soon, to play for this club or for a similar club…
It is a very big European club. I think that very few people would refuse to play for this club. Everyone knows, I often said it when I was young, Arsenal is the club of my heart, because there were quite a few French players there like Thierry Henry, Robert Pirès, Sylvain Wiltord, Patrick Vieira who was my idol…
The beautiful Arsenal. We will see. I cannot tell you if I am going to go to Arsenal. For the moment, I am focused on the French national team and the Euros. I have advisors who are dealing with all of that and I hope that things will go well with as little difficult as possible for me to find another club.
Arsene Wenger has already signed Granit Xhaka but could still be in the market for another midfielder as Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini have all left the club while the future’s of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are in doubt.
Sissoko is a versatile player who’s capable of playing through the middle or on the wing so he’d certainly give the boss plenty of options and it’s clear from his comments above that he’s desperate to join Arsenal.

However, I don’t think any potential move will happen until Wenger decides on the future of Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and even then I think the boss may have more serious targets than Sissoko and will only swoop for the Newcastle man as a last resort.
