Chelsea Ready To Offer Arsenal Target 5-Year Deal Worth £100k-A-Week
Chelsea are ready to offer Leicester midfielder N’Golo Kante a five-year deal worth around £100,000-a-week in order to secure his signature ahead of Arsenal
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are ready to make their move for N’Golo Kante…
Chelsea are ready to offer Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante a five-year deal worth around £100,000-a-week in order to secure his signature ahead of Arsenal and PSG, according to the Evening Standard.
Kante has just come off the back of an outstanding debut season with Leicester having driven them to a shock Premier League title win following his move from Caen last summer.
The 25-year-old’s sensational form in the middle of the park has attracted interest from throughout Europe with the Evening Standard still linking Arsenal to the French international despite the Gunners recently signing Granit Xhaka while Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with a strong interest.
However, it looks as though Chelsea are ready to move themselves in to pole position as the newspaper suggests the Blues are ready to try and lure Kante to Stamford Bridge with a lucrative five-year deal worth £100,000-a-week – almost triple his current wage at Leicester.
Incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte isn’t officially due to start work until he’s fulfilled his duties with Italy at the European Championships but it looks as though the 46-year-old has already got his new employers working on his transfer targets.
Kante would be a superb addition and the Evening Standard suggest Chelsea are ready to make their move after scout Piet de Visser watched him impress for France against Scotland on Saturday.
Leicester are obviously desperate to keep hold of Kante but the report says he has a £20m buyout clause written in to his contract so there is very little the Foxes can do to prevent him leaving if the likes of Chelsea meet that figure.
That sort of money should be no problem for a club with the resources available at Chelsea and it would represent a bargain in today’s market for a player of Kante’s quality.
Arsenal’s on-going interest is curious given their recent acquisition of Xhaka so I think we’ll only see Arsene Wenger challenge Chelsea for Kante if he sells one of his current crop of central midfielders.
