The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool close in on Sadio Mane…

Liverpool are closing-in on a £30m deal to sign Manchester United and Tottenham target Sadio Mane from Southampton this summer, according to the Sun.

Mane joined Southampton from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014 and has just come off the back of an excellent campaign that saw him score 15 goals and provide 9 assists to help the Saints secure an impressive sixth-placed finish last season.

The Senegalese international’s form has attracted plenty of interest from the Premier League’s most powerful clubs with the Guardian reporting late last month that Liverpool had joined Manchester United and Tottenham in the race for his signature.

New United boss Jose Mourinho is expected to be busy in the transfer market rebuilding the squad he’s inherited from Louis van Gaal and the Red Devils could certainly do with a creative talent like Mane in attack having only scored 49 goals last season.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is also on the look-out for another forward to help ease the load on Harry Kane as the North Londoners gear up for their assault on the Champions League and Mane is the kind of versatile attacker that would be of use to the Argentinean coach.

However, it looks as though Liverpool are now in pole position to secure a deal for the 24-year-old as the Sun are reporting today that the Merseysiders are closing-in on a deal worth £30m to lure Mane away from St Mary’s this summer.

The newspaper suggests that United have yet to formalise their interest as Mourinho isn’t as convinced by Mane as the clubs scouts while it seems Spurs are exploring a deal for Dutch forward Vincent Janssen [Source: Mirror].

That’s left Liverpool free to push ahead with a deal for Mane and the Sun claim the Reds have offered Southampton £25m up front with a further £5m coming in additional add ons and Mane is understood to be keen to link-up with Jurgen Klopp’s men next season.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but Mane would be an excellent signing for Liverpool if they could pull it off and he’d give Klopp another vital option in the final third with the Senegal international able to play out wide of through the middle.

If Mane does end up joining Liverpool, he’ll follow Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren in leaving Southampton for Anfield in recent years.

Utter rubbish, would take another £10 million to make them even think about selling him. After being double crossed by their manager (the lying Dutchman) they will be in no mood to sell

The Southampton fans must be the only set of fans who never ever blame their own board. Other club’s fans do it all the time, even when no blame lays with the board. But not the Saints fans LoL

This would be an excellent signing if Liverpool sign him he has pl experience, versatility, pace out on the wing which Liverpool lacked on since having sterling and fit in with jurgen klopp tactics

Dave Pownall is 100% correct. £30 mil for him is crazy. Secondly he netted 8 goals last season and 6 assists five of those goals came against 2 teams, a brace against us(Liverpool) and a hatrick against city. Keep the 30 mill and look for a 20 plus a season in the league striker so we can let both Struddige and Bentenke go. Origi and Ings plus a new striker is the 3 we need to push for a top 3. Closing in on Mane just like we where Gotze and now thees talk about Cavini. I believe the players we sign when I see them with a squad number
