Man Utd Trying To Hijack Arsenal’s Proposed £25m Deal For 23-Goal Attacker

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd enter the race for Henrikh Mkhitaryan…..

Manchester United are hoping to hijack Arsenal’s proposed deal to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer, according to the Express.

Mkhitaryan has become one of the most sought after players of the summer transfer market as the attacker has just one year left on his contract and has failed to agree terms with Dortmund over an extension.

It means the German giants are now expected to cash-in rather than risk losing the Armenian international for nothing in 12 months time and the Mirror claim that Arsenal have been leading the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham in the race for his signature.

Arsene Wenger has already brought in defensive midfielder Granit Xhaka but it looks like the Gunners boss wants to strengthen his attack and is eyeing Mkhitaryan as a potential replacement for Theo Walcott with the England ace tipped to leave the Emirates after a disappointing campaign last season.

However, it looks as though Arsenal will now face some stiff competition for the 27-year-old’s signature as the Express are reporting today that Man Utd are hoping to hijack their rivals proposed deal.

The newspaper cites former Middlesbrough striker and Norwegian journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft as saying that United have now made attempts to lure £25m-rated Mkhitaryan to Old Trafford from under Arsenal’s nose.

Jose Mourinho is expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer and United could certainly do with a creative talent like Mkhitaryan in their attack after only managing to score 49 league goals last season.

Mkhitaryan on the other hand scored 23 goals and provided a staggering 32 assists in all competitions so it’s easy to see why Arsenal and United are battling it out for his signature this summer.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but I think Mkhitaryan would be a sensational signing for either club so hopefully we’ll see him plying his trade in the Premier League next season.
