Chelsea Eyeing £31m Swoop For 23-Goal Tottenham Striker Target

Chelsea are considering launching a move for a Tottenham Hotspur target who scored 23 goals last season and is worth a reported £31m

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are linked with Michy Batshuayi….

Chelsea are considering launching a move for Tottenham Hotspur target Michy Batshuayi with the £31m-rated striker expected to leave Marseille this summer, according to the Mirror.

Batshuayi made his name in his homeland at Standard Liege but has developed in to one of the hottest young strikers in Europe since joining Marseille in the summer of 2014.

The Belgian international has just come off the back of a superb campaign that saw him score 23 goals and provide 10 assists in all competitions for the fallen French giants last season.

However, it wasn’t enough to prevent Franck Passi’s men from finishing in the bottom half of the Ligue 1 table and Batshuayi is now being hotly tipped to leave France for bigger and better things this summer.

The Express claim that Tottenham and West Ham have been showing a keen interest in the 22-year-old striker but Batshuayi has dismissed the idea of joining the Hammers as he wants to hold out for a bigger club while Spurs are understood to be reluctant to pay Marseille’s £31m asking price.

The North Londoners have reportedly been in talks to sign Dutch striker Vincent Janssen this week so if they can conclude their proposed £12m deal [source: Express] then it will open the door for Chelsea should they wish to step-up their interest in Batshuayi.

Incoming boss Antonio Conte isn’t due to officially start work until he’s fulfilled his duties with Italy at Euro 2016 but it looks as though he’s already got his new employers working on potential transfer deals.

Lukaku: Also a Chelsea target

The Express claim that Conte’s prime targets are Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Morata but with both deals looking difficult to pull off, the paper says Chelsea have now put Batshuayi down on their list of striker targets.

The Blues should be able to easily afford Marseille’s reported £31m asking price and Batshuayi would surely jump at the chance to join the deposed Premier League champions if given the opportunity.

The young forward is a huge talent who could turn out to be a bargain if he fulfills his potential, however, Chelsea might want to act fast as Batshuayi is part of the Belgian squad for Euro 2016 and a positive showing in France will not only increase competition for his signature, but it could also see Marseille increase their valuation.
