Arsenal Table Attacker Bid But Agent Confirms Talks Over Man Utd Move
Arsenal have received a blow in their pursuit of Henrikh Mkhitaryan as the agent of the Borussia Dortmund star says he’s confident of securing a move to Man Utd
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s agent talks-up Man Utd move….
Arsenal have received a blow in their pursuit of Henrikh Mkhitaryan as the agent of the Borussia Dortmund attacker says he is still confident of securing a move to Manchester United , according to ESPN.
Mkhitaryan’s future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks after it emerged that he wouldn’t be signing a contract extension with Dortmund after negotiations over a new deal collapsed.
The Armenian international has just one year remaining on his current contract and has understandably attracted plenty of interest in his services after scoring 23 goals and providing 32 assists in all competitions last season.
The Express reported last week that Arsenal had tabled a formal offer for Mkhitaryan as Arsene Wenger looks to find a potential replacement for Theo Walcott with the England international tipped to leave the Emirates this summer after losing his first team place.
However, ESPN claim that Manchester United have made an £18.5m offer of their own and it appears the player’s preference is to move to Old Trafford as his agent, Mino Raiola, has confirmed that talks are continuing over a potential deal with the Red Devils.
Raiola says that while Dortmund are still refusing to cash-in on the 27-year-old he remains ‘confident’ a deal will eventually be agreed for Mkhitaryan to join United this summer.
“It would be a sin to stop talking,” Raiola is quoted as saying by ESPN
“I am a positive guy. If I wasn’t confident of reaching some kind of conclusion, I wouldn’t try.
“I am very proud Manchester United want him and the talks are being held in a good atmosphere, but at the moment Dortmund are still saying no.”
Jose Mourinho was installed as the United boss last month as he’s expected to be busy in the transfer market rebuilding the squad left behind by Louis van Gaal with attack likely to be an area of concern after the Reds only managed to score 49 league goals last season.
United could certainly do with a creative talent like Mkhitaryan and he’d be a sensational signing if they could pull it off this summer, but we’ll have to wait and see whether they are able to persuade Dortmund to sell the attacker.
I’m sure Arsenal won’t give up without a fight but as it stands United are in the driving seat to secure a deal if the German giants do decide to sell and I think Mkhitaryan would prove to be a big hit here in the Premier League.
