Liverpool Closing-In On £25m Deal To Sign 15-Goal Attacker Ahead Of Man Utd

Liverpool are closing-in on a £25million deal to sign Southampton attacker Sadio Mane ahead of Premier League rivals Manchester United, according to reports

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, more on the future of Sadio Mane….

Liverpool are closing-in on a £25million deal to sign Southampton attacker Sadio Mane ahead of Premier League rivals Manchester United, according to the Sun.

Mane joined the Saints from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014 and has just finished off his best season to date having scored 15 goals and provided 9 assists to help the south coast club secure a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League table last season.

That impressive form has attracted interest from some of England’s most powerful clubs with the Guardian recently reporting that Liverpool and Manchester United were battling it out over the 24-year-old’s signature.

New United boss Jose Mourinho is gearing up for a busy summer as he looks to revamp the squad Louis van Gaal left behind and the Red Devils could certainly do with a creative talent like Mane after only managing to score 49 league goals last season.

However, it looks as though Liverpool are in pole position as the Sun are reporting today that the Merseysiders are closing-in on a £25m deal to lure Mane away from St Marys Stadium this summer.

Jurgen Klopp has already brought in three new faces during this transfer window with goalkeeper Loris Karius joining midfielder Marko Grujic and defender Joel Matip in moving to Anfield but it appears the German coach is looking to strengthen his attacking options with Mane firmly on his radar.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days and there is still time for the likes of United to step-up their interest but it seems Mane is edging closer to joining Liverpool and I think he’d turn out to be an excellent signing for the Reds.

If he does end up completing a move to Liverpool he won’t be the first player to make the switch from Southampton as Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Nathaniel Clyne have all made the move to Anfield in recent years.
