Arsenal, Liverpool & Man Utd Battle Over £50m Deal For Bundesliga Attacker
Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are ready to battle it out over a £50m deal to sign a hugely talented attacker from the Bundesliga this summer.
The opening of the summer transfer window is now open so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Julian Draxler is linked with a move to the Premier League…
Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are showing a keen interest in securing a £50m deal to sign Julien Draxler but face a tough time convincing Wolfsburg to sell this summer, according to the Express.
Draxler announced himself as one of the most exciting young talents in Europe after breaking in to the Schalke first team having progressed through the youth ranks and earned himself a big-money move to Wolfsburg last summer.
The 22-year-old has continued to impress at the Volkswagen Arena after scoring 9 goals and providing 8 assists in his 35 appearances last season which saw him book his place in the Germany squad for this summer’s European Championships.
It appears Draxler’s potential has caught the eye of several clubs in the Premier League as the Express claim that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are all showing a keen interest in luring the young attacker to England.
The newspaper suggests that any deal would cost the trio £50m, which is double what Wolfsburg paid for the player 12 months ago, but even for that kind of money the Premier League clubs may find it difficult persuading the Bundesliga outfit to sell.
While Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has admitted that Draxler will eventually leave for bigger and better things, he says they aren’t ready to let him leave just yet. Allofs is quoted as saying by the Express:
“It is clear that Wolfsburg is not the end of his dreams – neither was Schalke,”
“There are clubs like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona or one or other club from England.
“But Julian knows exactly how the contractual situation is. He has a long-term contract with us. We plan to stick with it!”
Understandably Wolfsburg are reluctant to lose Draxler so soon after buying him but I’d personally be surprised if they were able to resist should the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool or United come calling with £50m offers this summer as they’d be able to turn a huge profit in just one year.
The youngster would be a superb signing for any of the English clubs as he’s a huge talent and has been showing what he’s capable of at Euro 2016 having started in four of Germany’s five games en route to the semi finals where they’ll face-off against France on Thursday.
Draxler is predominantly a central attacking midfielder but he’s more than capable of playing on either wing so he’d give the likes of Arsene Wenger, Jurgen Klopp or Jose Mourinho plenty of options if he was to move to one of those clubs this summer.
