Transfer News: £21.5m Ace Favours Liverpool Move Ahead Of Arsenal & Spurs

By on July 7, 2016

The opening of the summer transfer window is now open so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Moussa Sissoko is keen on joining Liverpool….

Moussa Sissoko wants to leave Newcastle United this summer and his preferred destination is Liverpool ahead of the likes of Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Express.

Sissoko was a rare shining light for Newcastle last season but he was unable to prevent them from relegation to the Championship after they finished 18th in the Premier League table and he’s one of several international stars who’re expected to leave St James’ Park this summer.

It looks as though the midfielder is going to be offered the chance of an immediate return to the top flight as the Express claim that Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham have all been credited with an interest in signing the 26-year-old.

Sissoko has expressed his desire to play for Arsenal in the past and Arsene Wenger could be eyeing the French international as a potential replacement for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who’s been linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is also in the market for another midfielder as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of their assault on the Champions League next season and Sissoko would be an experienced addition for the White Hart Lane club.

However, it appears the north London duo have their work cut out in winning the race for his signature as the Express are citing reports coming out of France that claim Sissoko’s preferred destination is in fact Liverpool.

That may be a surprise to some given that both Arsenal and Tottenham can offer Champions League football while Liverpool won’t be in any European competition next season, so if these reports are true then perhaps Sissoko feels he’s got more chance of getting regular action at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp has already brought in four new faces this summer but with the futures of Joe Allen and Lucas Leiva in doubt, the Liverpool coach could be looking at Sissoko as the type of versatile midfielder who could compliment the likes of Jordan Henderson and Emre Can.

The Express claim that Newcastle value the midfielder at £21.5m which shouldn’t be a problem, however, Liverpool could yet face further competition from Germany with Borussia Dortmund also understood to be eyeing a move for Sissoko.

Any talk of a move will have to wait though as the midfielder is playing for France tonight against Germany as they look to book their place against Portugal in the final of Euro 2016.
