£50m Striker Asks Club To Let Him Join Arsenal After Personal Call From Wenger

An international striker has asked his club to let him make a £50m move to Arsenal following a personal phonecall from Arsene Wenger.

The summer transfer window is now open for business so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal make contact with Gonzalo Higuain….

Gonzalo Higuain has asked Napoli to let him join Arsenal after Arsene Wenger personally called the Argentinean international to persuade him to come to north London, according to the Daily Star.

Wenger is desperately searching for a new striker this summer after missing out on Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and Higuain has emerged as the most likely target in recent weeks.

Widespread reports have claimed the boss is looking to lure Higuain to the Emirates with Italian outlet Football Italia reporting earlier this week that Arsenal were set to present an offer to Napoli chiefs during face-to-face talks in London.

The Daily Star claim that the Serie A outfit value the striker at £66.7m but Wenger is hoping to get a deal agreed at £50m due to the fact Higuain has two years remaining on his contract and has confirmed he won’t be signing a new deal.

Napoli have so far stood firm on their valuation but the newspaper suggests that Higuain has now asked the Italian giants to let him join Arsenal this summer after speaking directly with Wenger on the telephone.

We’ll have to wait and see whether this personal plea persuades Napoli to soften their stance but needless to say I’d love to see Higuain join Arsenal as he’s proven himself to be one of the most prolific strikers in Europe in recent years.

Having scored 121 goals in 264 games for Real Madrid, the Argentinean hitman has really found his form in Italy and broke a Serie A record after scoring 36 goals in just 35 games last season.

We could certainly do with that sort of threat in front of goal as with Danny Welbeck out for the majority of next season with a serious knee injury, Olivier Giroud is our only recognised senior striker to choose from.

Let’s see how things progress over the coming days but I hope we manage to find a breakthrough in talks with Napoli and get Higuain on board before we fly-out to the United States for our pre-season tour at the end of the month.

Wenger, please leave our club. We have become a club that is more concerned about making money.
Chelsea are singing players, City are singing players as are united. Once again we get nobody…….. Oh sorry we did get some fella from Japan but that was to make more money. Board and we get OUT !!!!!!

pls let me digress a bit and use this medium to make a few remarks. watching the just concluded euro 2016 was very revealing in terms of the performances of arsenal stars for their respective national teams. Ramsey was the overall best for wales and this became obvious in the semifinal match against Portugal where his absence was sorely missed.
in the German team oezil was voted the best German player for the tournament.
even the oft so maligned giroud eventually won over the French fans before the close of the tournament, with his above average performances. needless to talk about koschelney whose performance was superb throughout the tournament.
turning over to the copa America, it could be argued that the never-say-die efforts of Alexis Sanchez almost single handedly won the cup for Chile. so what can one deduce from the forgoing? why did it appear as if these arsenal stars give out more of themselves for their countries than for their club? is it out of patriotism to perform a duty for their countries or that they feel a greater sense of responsibility playing for their countries? could it be that their national coaches know how best to motivate these players to get more out of them.
it may be, looking at Leicester city and the way and manner they swept through the premiership and won it in spite of all odds may throw more light. vardy, kante, mahrez, Morgan and the rest of them in the City team were before now quite uncelebrated lots; they were not any where near world class, but Claudio Ranieri had succeeded in galvanizing them into a powerful squad able to take the premiership by storm. he has motivated them into believing in themselves.
can we draw some lesson from this to see if we can draw a parallel to Wenger and arsenal? is it possible that Wenger having spent 20 years at arsenal, doing the same thing every day may have lost the zeal and motivation to motivate these arsenal players. look, some of the once acclaimed great potentials have even retrogressed instead of developing to world class players one expected of them. oxlade-chamberlain, walcot, gnabry and even Campbell are some examples.
the truth is, with Wenger arsenal has stagnated, our great club is no longer respected. we cannot sign a world class striker because strikers who hitherto would have jumped at the mention of arsenal are now snubbing arsenal and this must be a source of worry for any truly arsenal fan. food for thought!
