Player Open To Move As Chelsea & Man Utd Battle For £67m-Rated La Liga Star

James Rodriguez is open to the idea of moving to the Premier League with Chelsea and Man Utd ready to battle-it-out over the £67m-rated Real Madrid playmaker

The summer transfer window is now open for business so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Top clubs are desperately trying to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season and as the latest Premier League lines show, the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd are expected to be back battling for the title after spending heavily this summer. Today, the race for James Rodriguez hots-up….

James Rodriguez is open to the idea of moving to the Premier League with Chelsea and Manchester United ready to battle-it-out over the £67m-rated Real Madrid playmaker, according to the Sun.

Rodriguez moved to Madrid from AS Monaco in a £56m deal back in 2014 after earning a move to the Spanish giants following some sensational displays for Colombia at the World Cup finals that summer.

The 25-year-old enjoyed an encouraging start to life in Spain but fell out-of-favour when Zinedine Zidane took over at the turn of the year and Rodrigez made just 17 league starts last season while he was also left on the bench for key Champions League matches including the final against Atletico Madrid.

It’s led to speculation that Rodriguez could be on the move this summer in search of more regular first team football and the Sun claims that the playmaker is open to the idea of coming to the Premier League this summer with Chelsea and Manchester United ready to battle it out over his signature.

Jose Mourinho has already brought in three new signings this summer but the Portuguese coach is expected to further strengthen his squad over the coming weeks and Rodriguez would be the kind of marquee signing United are looking for.

New Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has just made his second signing following the arrival of N’Golo Kante but the Italian tactician is looking to overhaul the squad and Rodriguez would certainly give the west Londoners some much-needed creativity in the final third.

The Sun claims that Madrid have already received offers from unnamed clubs worth £50m but while the Champions League winners are willing to sell, they are holding out for a fee in the region of £67m.

It remains to be seen whether the likes of Chelsea or United will be prepared to pay that kind of money but Rodriguez would be an exciting signing if either club was able to get a deal agreed this summer.

The playmaker was excellent during his time at Porto and Monaco but he hasn’t been able to show what he’s capable of at the Bernabeu due to the competition from the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

If he was given a more prominent role at Chelsea or United I could see the Colombian international excelling so I think he’d be a superb addition, but the stumbling block for any potential deal could be Madrid’s valuation.
