Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Liverpool to the signature of Georges-Kevin Nkoudou with the winger to undergo a medical this week after Spurs agreed a £10.8m deal with Marseille, according to the Mirror.
Nkoudou has emerged as one of the hottest young properties in French football during his time with Nantes and earned a move to Marseille last summer where he continued to impress with 10 goals and 5 assists in his debut campaign.
The 21-year-old has caught the attention of clubs in the Premier League with the Mirror claiming that Liverpool, Tottenham and West Ham have all shown a keen interest in the attacker over recent months.
Jurgen Klopp has already brought in four new faces this summer but the German coach is expected to sign another winger to replace Jordon Ibe following his move to Bournemouth and Nkoudou appeared to have been on the Reds’ bosses radar.
However, it looks as though Liverpool have missed out as the Mirror claim that Tottenham have now agreed a £10.8m fee with Marseille and Nkoudou is expected to fly-in to London to undergo his medical over the coming days.
Once that formality is out of the way, the newspaper says that Nkoudou will sign a five-year deal before joining up with the Tottenham squad to continue his pre-season training ahead of the new campaign.
The French under-21 international will become Mauricio Pochettino’s third major signing of the summer following the arrivals of striker Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar and midfielder Victor Wanyama from Southampton.
Clinton N’Jie is set to leave in order to make room for Nkoudou’s arrival with the Cameroon forward heading to Marseille on loan as part of the deal, with the 22-year-old struggling to make an impact following his move from Lyon last summer.
Nkoudou is capable of playing out on either wing so he’ll give Pochettino another vital option in the final third as Tottenham prepare for their participation in the Champions League next season.
