Chelsea Submit £38m Bid As Conte Closes In On Third Summer Signing

Chelsea have launched a fresh £38m bid for a Serie A defender as Antonio Conte closes in on making his third major signing of the summer.

The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, more on Chelsea’s pursuit of Kalidou Koulibaly…

Chelsea have launched an improved £38m bid for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly as Antonio Conte looks to bring in his third major signing of the summer, according to Sky Sports News.

The Italian tactician has already splashed out on the signings of midfielder N’Golo Kante and striker Michy Batshuayi but the former Juventus coach is keen to strengthen his options as the back and Koulibaly has emerged as a key target.

The Senegal international has developed in to one of the best central defenders in Serie A since joining Napoli in 2014 but his future in Italy is in serious doubt after talks over a new contract collapsed.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for the 25-year-old in recent weeks and his agent Bruno Satin confirmed earlier this week that the west Londoners were keen to lure his client to England with Koulibaly looking to leave Napoli for ‘economic reasons’.

“Chelsea still want him and there’s time to close the deal,” Satin is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

“We’ve decided to leave for economic reasons. After what happened to Higuain, though, Kalidou will not be leaving for Juventus or another competitor.”

Chelsea have reportedly already seen two offers rejected for Koulibaly but Sky Sports News claim the Blues have now returned to test Napoli’s resolve with a fresh offer worth £38m.

The Italian outfit are yet to respond to the improved bid but Chelsea will be hoping it’s enough to secure a deal for the powerful centre-back as he’d be a superb addition to their new-look squad.

Conte is looking to bring in new blood at the back and Koulibaly would be the ideal long-term replacement for John Terry and the 6ft 6ins defender should have no problem in adjusting to life here in the Premier League if he does end up making the move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are building an excellent squad this summer and they look to be good value with the bookmakers to reclaim the Premier League title this season. You can get best odds of 6/1 on the Blues which will be even more tempting if they manage to land Koulibaly. If you do decide to bet on Chelsea for the title, make sure you take advantage of this voucher for Bet365. I personally think the west Londoners will be a strong force this season as Conte is a serial winner and he could take them all the way if he adapts to life here in England.
