Tottenham Team News: Pochettino Confirms Huge Injury Boost Ahead Of Everton Game

Mauricio Pochettino has offered a team news and injury update ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Everton including news on a huge injury boost.

The new Premier League season is almost upon us and Tottenham Hotspur kick start their campaign with a tricky trip to Goodison Park to face Everton on Saturday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given TottenhamHotspur.com a team news and injury update.

The Argentinean coach was pleased to confirm a major injury boost with the news that Jan Vertonghen is fit and available for selection against the Toffees this weekend.

The centre-back suffered an ankle at Euro 2016 injury while away on international duty with the Belgian squad this summer but Pochettino says the 29-year-old has trained well this week and is in contention for the trip to Merseyside.

The Spurs boss told the clubs website:

“The good news is that he’s ready,”

“Last week was perfect and he’s trained with all the group. We’ll see what happens. It’s my decision tomorrow to include him in the squad or not.

“He’s worked really hard to try to start the season, we appreciate his effort and it’s been fantastic from the medical staff as well working with him.”

The news will come as a welcome boost for Tottenham as Vertonghen formed a rock solid partnership alongside Toby Alderweireld last season and Pochettino will be hoping they pick up where they left off last year.

Otherwise, Spurs have a fully-fit squad to choose from against Everton. The only absentee is Mousa Dembele as the midfielder continues to serve a suspension from last season but Dele Alli is available again after completing his three-match ban.
