Player Confirms He Rejected Man Utd In Favour Of £32m Chelsea Move

A player has revealed that he rejected the advances of Jose Mourinho in favour of making a £32m move to Chelsea this summer. Find out who the player is here

The summer transfer window is now closed for another year but it’s not time to look back on those deals that didn’t go through and those that are being lined-up for the future. Today, N’Golo Kante rejected a move to Man Utd….

N'Golo Kante Chelsea

French midfielder N’Golo Kante has revealed that he rejected the advances of Jose Mourinho in favour of making a £32m move from Leicester City to Chelsea this summer, according to the Mirror.

Kante became one of the most sought after players of the summer transfer window after his energetic performances in the middle of the park helped Leicester to a sensational Premier League title win last season.

It led to strong interest from several top European clubs but Chelsea won the race for the 25-year-old’s signature with the west Londoners agreeing to pay the Foxes £32m for the defensive midfielder back in July.

It could have been very different though as Kante has now confirmed that Mourinho personally called him in an attempt to lure him to Old Trafford but the Frenchman had already decided to follow Antonio Conte to Stamford Bridge.

Kante is quoted as saying by the Mirror:

“It was amazing to have Mourinho call me, even though I’d been warned before how he would appeal to me.

“I listened to his arguments about why I should move to United.

“But at that time I was hesitant between staying at Leicester or leaving for Chelsea.

“My discussions with them were already well underway. But when I spoke, I had a good feeling with (Antonio) Conte.”

I’m sure United were disappointed to miss out on Kante as he would have been a superb addition to their squad and would have formed a devastating partnership alongside Paul Pogba in the middle of the park.

However, the player is now a vital part of Conte’s new-look team at Chelsea and Kante has played every minute of the Blues first three Premier League games, helping them to three successive victories so far.
