Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Hull City will battle-it-out over the Premier League manager and player of the month awards for August, Sky Sports have confirmed.

Jose Mourinho has enjoyed a flawless start to life at Old Trafford since replacing Louis van Gaal as manager with the ‘Special One’ winning all three of his league games so far.

United started the new campaign with a 3-1 win at Bournemouth before following it up with victories over Southampton and Hull to ensure a maximum nine points from their first three matches so it’s no surprise that Mourinho has been nominated for the manager of the month.

Mourinho will be up against old foe Pep Guardiola as the Spaniard has also been nominated after guiding Manchester City to wins over Sunderland, Stoke City and West Ham on his first season in England.

Antonio Conte has also been nominated after enjoying a perfect start to his new career at Stamford Bridge after securing Chelsea wins over West Ham, Watford and Burnley in the league so far.

The final manager in the running is caretaker Hull boss Mike Phelan as the 53-year-old has performed miracles following a turbulent summer to pick up six points from their first three games following wins over Swansea and champions Leicester.

The four clubs also battle it out for the player of the month with Antonio Valencia, Raheem Sterling, Eden Hazard and Curtis Davies all nominated for the award following excellent starts to the season.

Hazard has rediscovered his best form for Chelsea after scoring twice and picking up one assist so far while Valencia has also enjoyed a superb start to the season at right-back for United.

Raheem Sterling was widely criticised for his form at City last season but the England international is reborn under Guardiola and has two goals and two assists to his name already while Davies has been a rock at the back for Hull during their impressive start to the new campaign.
