Swansea vs Chelsea Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Predicted Score
Chelsea take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups, betting tips and predicted score for the game
Chelsea will look to extend their 100% start to the new Premier League season when they take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Antonio Conte has enjoyed a perfect start to life at Stamford Bridge having secured consecutive victories over West Ham, Watford and Burnley to see the Blues sitting at the top end of the table at this early stage of the new campaign.
It’s certainly a long way from the kind of form the west Londoners showed during the second half of last season en route to a tenth-placed finish so I’m sure Conte will be desperate to keep up the momentum with another win tomorrow.
Swansea started the new season with a solid 1-0 win at Burnley but have since slumped to disappointing defeats to Hull City and Leicester City so Francesco Guidolin will be keen to address that form with a positive result on home soil.
David Luiz is pushing to make his second debut for the club since re-joining from Paris Saint-Germain on deadline day but Conte has suggested the centre-back isn’t ready to start just yet.
Left-back Marcos Alonso is also hoping to make his bow following his big-money move from Fiorentina but again the Chelsea boss has hinted the defender will need more time to get used to the clubs philosophy before he’ll be selected.
Kurt Zouma remains out with a long-term knee injury but otherwise Conte has a fully-fit squad to choose from.
Swansea will be hoping to hand record signing Borja Baston his debut following his move from Atletico Madrid but the striker will need to prove his fitness following a thigh injury.
Alfie Mawson could also feature following his move from Barnsley while Jefferson Montero should make the squad despite his late return from international duty with Ecuador.
Swansea 1-2 Chelsea: The Blues have looked a solid unit under Conte and while they are still a long way from where the Italian coach will want them to be, I still think Chelsea will edge this one at the Liberty tomorrow.
