Tottenham Team News: Key Man Returns But Pochettino Confirms Injury Blow

Mauricio Pochettino has given a team news and injury update ahead of Tottenham Hotspurs Champions League opener against Monaco tomorrow night

Tottenham Hotspur return to the Champions League tomorrow night when they entertain Monaco at Wembley in their Group E opener.

Ahead of the game, boss Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference today and he’s given tottenhamhotspur.com a team news and injury update.

The Argentinean coach was pleased to confirm that Mousa Dembele is back in the squad for the game on Wednesday night as the midfielder is yet to feature so far this season.

Dembele has been forced to miss Tottenham’s opening four Premier League games due to a suspension that was carried over from last season but he’ll be back in the squad for their Champions League match tomorrow night.

Pochettino told the clubs website:

“It’s good Mousa is available and he’s in the squad,”

“Mousa was important for us last season, but all the players are always important. We are a team, we have a lot of competition and it’s good the players are all available to give me more options.”

The Belgian international was a key player for Spurs last season and was an important part of the side that ended up finishing third in the table so it will be a big boost for Pochettino to have him available for selection.

However, unfortunately Danny Rose will continue to miss out as although Pochettino said the full-back is recovering well from the hamstring injury that kept him out of the 4-0 win over Stoke at the weekend, he’s still not ready to return.

In Rose’s absence, Ben Davies is expected to once again deputise at left-back and he’ll be looking to build on his excellent performance at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
