Agent Speaks Out Amid Reports Liverpool Are Plotting Move For £27m Frenchman

An agent has spoken out on his clients future amid reports that Liverpool are lining up a January swoop for the £27m-rated Frenchman.

The summer transfer window is closed for another year but it’s now time to look back on those deals that didn’t go through and those that are being lined-up for the future. Today, the agent of Geoffrey Kondogbia has spoken out about his clients future…

The agent of French midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has spoken out about his clients future amid reports that Liverpool are plotting a January swoop for the Inter Milan star, according to the Mirror.

Kondogbia began his career at Lens before joining Sevilla in 2012 and following a short stint in Spain he earned a big-money move to Ligue 1 giants Monaco where he forged a reputation as one of the most promising midfielders in Europe.

The 23-year-old then secured a £27m switch to Inter Milan in the summer of 2015 but the midfielders time in Italy hasn’t gone according to plan as he endured a disappointing debut season and has now fallen out-of-favour with new boss Frank de Boer.

The Dutch coach publicly criticised Kondogbia following his error against Bologna last month and the player hasn’t played for the club since leading to speculation he’s set for a move during the winter transfer window.

And it looked as though the player could be heading to the Premier League as the Daily Star reported earlier this week that Liverpool are plotting a January swoop to take the French international on loan for the rest of the season.

Kondogbia’s agent, Jonathan Maarek, has now responded to the reports by confirming there is plenty of interest being shown in the midfielder but played down the suggestion that he’s looking to leave Inter.

Maarek is quoted as saying:

“Despite the current situation, Geoffrey is relaxed. There are no problems and he is happy at Inter,”

“Kondogbia is certainly a top level player. He has a lot of quality and is very young, so obviously he has a lot of clubs interested in him.

“Can I name them? I will just say that he is not lacking interested clubs.”

Jurgen Klopp Liverpool

I’m sure if Kondogbia continues to be out-of-favour under de Boer over the coming weeks then he may consider his future in January and I think he’d be an excellent signing for Liverpool if they did manage to land him on loan.

Kondogbia is a central midfielder and with James Milner now establishing himself as the Reds first choice left-back and Emre Can enduring a tough time with injuries, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Jurgen Klopp is looking to bring in another option in the middle of the park.
