Arsene Wenger seems to have firmly set his sights on Ajax star Jan Vertonghen! Many people already believe that a deal has already been done to take the 23yr old to The Emirates in the summer.
Whether this is true or not i dont know. But it seems certain that Vertonghen will be an Arsenal player by the start of next season..
One question may be though where will the young Belgian play? He is very adept at play in Arsenals two problem positions of centre back and as a defensive midfielder. One thing is for sure though is the immense qualities that he will bring. Vertonghen is big, strong, powerful and technically excellant. He also brings a strong will to win and a very cultured left foot..Fitting in at Arsenal will not be a problem as his best friend in football is Arsenal centre back Thomas Vermaelen.
Vertonghen is an Arsenal player just waiting to happen but where will he play??????

Maybe wenger will get rid of denilson and he and song can fight it out for centre mid and also he can be vermaelans back up. Maybe even left back???? And finally is it possible he could play along side verminator? I’m not sure how hard it is for a left footer to adapt along side a left footer at centre back. Anyway it’s good news bt chances are this is not true and also if it was it’s this season when we would need him not next!!!!!

There is no chance of Wenger making this signing. You should all know by now that when we are linked with a player it is always speculation. Wenger does not like anyone knowing who he is planning on purchasing as it inflates the price and also other clubs may then decide to track him.
I’d love to see someone as brave as Vermalen protecting our keeper but I very much doubt it!

If AW was going to buy this player it would have happened in the summer. The fact that he went for Kols and Squills insted showed he is looking for extremely cheap options – nothing more than £3m.
