Arsenal are sweating over the fitness of Hector Bellerin after he was forced to withdraw from the Spanish under squad due to two injury scares, according to the Mirror.

Bellerin was called up to the under 21 squad after being overlooked by Julen Lopetegui for the senior side and the Arsenal defender was expected to start Spain’s U21 Euro 2017 qualifier against Austria on Friday night.

However, the Mirror claim that the 21-year-old has been forced to pull out of the squad and head back to London for further assessment after aggravating an ankle injury in training earlier this week.

The newspaper says that Bellerin initially picked up the problem during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham last Sunday but had hoped the ankle would ease during the international break.

But it appears the full-back has instead made the injury worse and the Mirror claim that Bellerin has now flown back to North London where he’ll undergo scans with the Arsenal medical team today to find out the full extent of the problem.

To make matters worse, Bellerin has also taken to Snapchat to show off a photo of him sporting a nasty bruised ear so the youngster has two injury concerns to worry about.

The news will come as a huge concern to Arsene Wenger as Bellerin has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League since breaking in to the Gunners first team two years ago.

The north Londoners should know more about how long Bellerin will be sidelined for later today but the Spanish youngster must now be considered a doubt for next weekend’s huge trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.

Losing Bellerin would be bad enough but Arsenal are also sweating over the fitness of star striker Alexis Sanchez after he was forced out of Chile’s World Cup qualifier against Colombia tonight with a thigh injury.
