[Video Highlights] Southampton 0-0 Liverpool: Dominant Reds Frustrated

By on November 19, 2016

It was a frustrating time for Liverpool on the south coast as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium this afternoon.

The Merseysiders dominated for much of the game and went close to opening the scoring midway through the first half when Sadio Mane forced a fine save from Fraser Forster in the 28th minute.

Philippe Coutinho then watched a great chance to break the deadlock when he sliced wide when well placed after being sent clear by Roberto Firmino shortly after half time.

Emre Can drilled a speculative  long-range shot wide before Nathaniel Clyne missed a golden chance to win it with ten minutes remaining when he headed wide when unmarked at the far post following good work from Daniel Sturridge.

Southampton held on to secure a 0-0 draw which sees Liverpool remain top of the Premier League table but only on goal difference from Manchester City following their 2-1 win at Crystal Palace while Chelsea could go a point clear if they beat Middlesbrough on Sunday.
