[Video Goals] Liverpool 2-0 Sunderland: Origi & Milner Fire Reds Top Of The Table

By on November 26, 2016

Liverpool climbed back to the top of the Premier League table thanks to a hard fought 2-0 victory over Sunderland at Anfield this afternoon.

The Reds dominated from the outset but the game took a worrying turn when Philippe Coutinho was stretchered from the field with a nasty looking injury midway through the first half.

Sunderland were defending well and held Liverpool until the 75th minute when Divock Origi finally broke the Merseysiders resolve as his cross-come-shot from the left wing evaded everybody to nestle in to the far corner of the net for 1-0.

The Reds were then gifted the perfect opportunity to wrap up the three points when Sadio Mane was fouled by Didier Ndong in the area. James Milner made no mistake from the spot to make it 2-0 in the 91st minute and secure a comfortable win.

The victory sees Liverpool reclaim top spot from Manchester City on goal difference but Chelsea can go one point clear if they beat Tottenham at Stamford Bridge this evening.
