[Video Goals] Arsenal 0-2 Southampton: Poor Gunners Crash To Saints

By on November 30, 2016

Arsenal’s 19-game unbeaten run in all competitions came to an abrupt end as Southampton booked their place in the semi finals of the EFL Cup with a 2-0 win at the Emirates tonight.

The Saints started well and opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Jordy Clasie fired home from the edge of the area after we had failed to clear our lines properly.

The visitors dominated the first half and grabbed a deserved second goal in the 38th minute when Ryan Bertrand took advantage of some very generous defending to fire in to the bottom corner.

Arsenal improved after the break with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain coming off the bench to waste our best chance of getting back in to the game, but Southampton were also causing problems at the other end with Emi Martinez forced to make a couple of fine saves to keep it at 2-0.

No further goals were scored so we crash out of the League Cup while the Saints will be in the hat for the semi final draw.
