Bournemouth produced a stunning comeback to beat Liverpool 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller at the Vitality Stadium this afternoon.

Liverpool started brightly and opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Sadio Mane raced on to Emre Can’s pass to poke past Artur Boruc for 0-1 before the Reds doubled their advantage just two minutes later when Divock Origi did superbly to find the net from a tight angle.

Bournemouth pulled one back shortly after half time when James Milner tripped Ryan Fraser in the box and Callum Wilson made no mistake from the penalty spot before Liverpool restored their two-goal advantage when Emre Can found the top corner with a superb effort in the 64th minute.

However, the Cherries began their fightback when Fraser made it 2-3 in the 76th minute and Steve Cook levelled things up with a neat turn and finish just two minutes later to set-up a grandstand finish on the south coast.

Both sides were pushing for a winner but it was Bournemouth who found it when Loris Karius spilled a long-range effort from Cook and Nathan Ake was on hand to bundle home the rebound to seal a dramatic 4-3 victory for the home side.

The loss means Liverpool wasted the chance to close the gap on Chelsea and now remain third in the table, four points adrift of the Premier League leaders.
