Some of the Arsenal players have been celebrating on social media after we beat Basel 4-1 on Tuesday night to secure top spot in our Champions League group.

Arsene Wenger made six changes from the side that beat West Ham last weekend but it didn’t disrupt the flow of our game as we raced in to a 2-0 lead thanks to two poachers goals from Lucas Perez.

The Spaniard completed his hat-trick shortly after half-time with a sweet right-footed finish before Alex Iwobi made it 4-0 following a lovely team move involving Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

Basel scored a late consolation but it didn’t affect the result as we secured a vital three points which coupled with Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-2 draw with Ludogorets means we top Group A in the Champions League.

Understandably some of the players have been celebrating on social media with Hector Bellerin, Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi, Per Mertesacker, Petr Cech, Rob Holding, David Ospina, Aaron Ramsey and Lucas Perez all posting messages on Twitter.

Granit Xhaka – who was back in his hometown to not only play against his former side but also line-up against his brother – posted a heartfelt message on Instagram after marshalling the midfield during the 4-1 win.

Check out what the players have been up to here:
