[Video Highlights] Everton 0-1 Liverpool: Mane Nets Late Winner As Reds Go Second

By on December 19, 2016

Sadio Mane scored an injury time winner as Liverpool secured a vital 1-0 victory over Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park tonight.

Everton were clearly on a high after beating Arsenal last week as they enjoyed a bright start to the game but couldn’t create many clear cut chances and you got the feeling they’d pay for not making their dominance count.

Liverpool grew in to the game and had the better of things during the second half with substitute goalkeeper Joel Robles making a superb save to deny  Roberto Firmino with 10 minutes to go.

Just as it looked like we were heading to a stalemate, Liverpool grabbed a stoppage time winner as Daniel Sturridge’s long-range effort came back off the post and Mane was on hand to poke home in the 84th minute.

The win sees Liverpool climb above Manchester City in to second spot in the table and cuts the gap on leaders Chelsea to six points.
