Man Utd Team News: Mourinho Confirms Duo Should Be Fit For Liverpool Showdown
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that two of his players should be passed fit to return to the squad for the visit of Liverpool to Old Trafford this weekend.
Manchester United will be looking to give their title challenge a major boost when they take on Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s offered ManUtd.com a team news and injury update.
The United boss told the clubs website that he’s confident Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo will be passed fit to return to the squad for the visit of their north-west rivals this weekend.
Ibrahimovic was due to return to the starting eleven for Tuesday’s EFL Cup semi-final first leg with Hull City having been left on the bench for the FA Cup win over Reading last weekend.
Illness forced the Swedish super-star to miss the Hull clash in midweek but Mourinho is hopeful that his top goal-scorer will be passed fit to take on Liverpool on Sunday.
Rojo also sat out the League Cup win over the Tigers after limping out of the Reading game with a muscular problem but the Reds boss is also confident the Argentinean international will be available this weekend.
Mourinho told ManUtd.com:
“I think they are available. I cannot confirm with 48 hours to the match but I think so.”
Otherwise United have a fully fit squad to choose from and Mourinho is expected to name a similar side to the one that started against Hull on Tuesday – although Daley Blind, Michael Carrick and Anthony Martial will be hoping to join Ibrahimovic in returning to the starting eleven.
