Liverpool Open Talks Over Deal To Sign 29-Year-Old International

Liverpool have opened formal talks with Manchester City over a potential deal to sign out-of-favour goalkeeper Joe Hart in the summer

Managers are now making moves to try and strengthen their squads during the January transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with Joe Hart…

Liverpool have opened formal talks with Manchester City over a potential deal to sign out-of-favour goalkeeper Joe Hart in the summer, according to a report in the Express.

Hart joined City from Shrewsbury Town in 2006 and has developed in to one of the best keepers in Europe during the past decade having helped the Citizens win two Premier League titles and three domestic cups.

However, the 29-year-old found himself frozen out following the arrival of Pep Guardiola last summer and Hart was forced to join Torino on a season-long loan deal in order to guarantee himself regular first team football.

Claudio Bravo was signed from Barcelona as Hart’s replacement but the ball-playing keeper has struggled to adapt to life in England with the Chilean international heavily criticised for some of his performances so far this season.

Many fans and pundits have questioned Guardiola’s decision to replace Hart with Bravo but the Spanish coach appears unlikely to offer the long-serving City stopper a second chance and a permanent move this summer seems likely.

It looks as though Hart will be offered the chance to return to the Premier League as the Express are citing a report from Tuttosport that claims Liverpool have made contact with City to express their interest in signing the England No.1 this summer.

I’m sure Hart would be tempted by the opportunity to return to England and play for one of the biggest clubs in Europe but the Italian outlet says the initial talks are yet to develop in to anything serious.

Jurgen Klopp Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has been urged to sign a new established first choice keeper this summer as Loris Karius failed to impress during his stint between the sticks with the German youngster recently losing his place to former No.1 Simon Mignolet.

Klopp clearly has reservations about both of his goalkeepers given how much he’s swapped between the two this season so it would be no surprise to see him try and sign someone like Hart this summer.

A move to Anfield would suit both parties well, however, it remains to be seen whether City will be prepared to do business with a direct rival so we’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months.
