Conte Eyes Trio As Chelsea Boss Plots £100m Summer Splurge

Antonio Conte is eyeing three new players this summer as the Chelsea boss begins to lay the ground work ahead of a £100m splurge at the end of the season

The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Chelsea are ready to splash the cash this summer…

Antonio Conte is eyeing at least three new players this summer as the Chelsea boss begins to lay the ground work ahead of a £100m splurge at the end of the season, according to the Mirror.

Chelsea are well on course to reclaiming the Premier League title as they currently sit nine points clear at the top of the table but it looks like the Blues are still planning to further strengthen their squad this summer.

The Mirror claim that owner Roman Abramovich is understandably impressed by what Conte has achieved so far during his short tenure in west London and is ready to back his boss with £100m during the summer transfer window.

The newspaper says that Chelsea have made Moussa Dembele their top target and will finally make a formal move for his signature after being strongly linked with a swoop for the Celtic hitman last month.

Dembele has been a huge hit in Scotland since joining Celtic from Fulham for just £500,000 last summer with the 20-year-old scoring 20 goals in his 38 appearances so far, including 3 in his 6 Champions League games.

The Mirror say that Celtic quoted £40m for Dembele in January and although Chelsea would hope to land the youngster for less, there is a determination to sign the French youngster with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City also circling.

It looks like Conte is ready to totally revamp his striking options as the paper goes on to suggest that with Diego Costa may leave Stamford Bridge this summer with the Blues scrapping plans to offer him a new contract following his bust-up with Conte last month.

Instead, it’s reported that Chelsea have identified Alvaro Morata as a potential replacement for the Brazilian-born hitman with the young striker tipped to leave Real Madrid this summer following a frustrating campaign at the Bernabeu.

It’s not just in attack where Conte is planning to strengthen as the Mirror claim that the Italian coach has identified Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk as a prime target as he looks to bring in a long-term replacement for John Terry.

van Dijk has enjoyed a superb campaign at St Mary’s and while he’s just been ruled out for up to two months with an ankle injury, the Dutch international will still return towards the end of the season and will be hot property this summer.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but it looks as though Conte is gearing up for a busy summer and it could spell bad news for the rest of the Premier League if the run-away leaders are going to spend upwards of £100m on new talent.
