Liverpool need to get back to winning ways following a poor run of form when they entertain Tottenham at Anfield on Saturday evening.

Ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given Liverpoolfc.com a team news and injury update.

The Reds boss confirmed that Adam Lallana is a slight doubt for the game this weekend after missing the last two days training due to a minor Achilles injury.

Klopp says he hopes Lallana will be able to return to training today which should put him in contention to face Spurs but if the midfielder is unable to practice at Melwood then he’s likely to miss out tomorrow.

Liverpool also have a doubt over the availability of Dejan Lovren as the centre-back may also be forced to miss training this afternoon due to a niggling knee injury.

The Croatian international sat out last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Hull City and he’ll need to be assessed today before a decision will be made over his possible involvement against Tottenham.

The final update from Klopp was regarding the fitness of Ragnar Klavan and the good news is that the centre-back will return to training at Melwood today.

However, the Estonian international will still need to be assessed as he’s spent six days in bed with an infection and has lost some weight, so Liverpool will have to make a late decision over his availability.

Klopp told the clubs website:

“It’s not 100 per cent sure if Dejan Lovren can train today, still [with] problems. But we still have hope that it is possible, so we’ll see in a few minutes.

“Adam Lallana was out for two days with a little problem with the Achilles. We have to see. He’s willing and we want, for sure, to try that he can train today and then he is available for tomorrow, because it was only two days.

“Ragnar Klavan has had a real bacterial infection, so [had] six days in bed and [has] lost a little bit of weight.

“He was running the day before yesterday, and yesterday felt much better. He’s involved in training today but we have to see what we can do with him.”

If Klavan and Lovren are both ruled out then Klopp will have to decide whether to stick with Lucas Leiva alongside Joel Matip in the middle of defence or call upon youngster Joe Gomez to deputise at the back.

Lallana would be a huge miss if he’s ruled out as the England international has been a key figure in Klopp’s side this season. Gini Wijnaldum is on stand-by to come in alongside Jordan Henderson and Emre Can if Lallana is ruled out.
