Chelsea & Man Utd Handed Boost In Pursuit Of £25m Target, Player Keen On Move

Chelsea and Man Utd have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Tiemoue Bakayoko as he’s eyeing a move this summer after rejecting a contract extension

The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Chelsea & Man Utd have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Tiemoue Bakayoko…

Chelsea and Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Tiemoue Bakayoko as the midfielder is eyeing a move this summer after rejecting a contract extension from Monaco, according to the Mirror.

Bakayoko has developed in to one of the hottest prospects in European football after establishing himself as a vital member of the Monaco first team following his move from Rennes in 2014.

The 22-year-old has made 32 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign and has played a key role in helping Leonardo Jardim’s side maintain their position at the top of the Ligue 1 table and progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Bakayoko’s performances have attracted interest from England with the Daily Star reporting earlier this month that Chelsea and Manchester United are plotting summer moves for the midfielder.

The Premier League giants have now been handed a major boost in their pursuit as the Mirror claim that Bakayoko has rejected a new contract offer from Monaco.

The French under-21 international’s current deal expires in 2019 so Monaco are under no immediate pressure to sell but the newspaper suggests Bakayoko is expected to leave this summer and wants to move to England.

That news will come as a huge boost to the likes of Chelsea and United but the Mirror claim that any potential suitors will have to pay £25m in order to persuade Monaco to cash-in.

Obviously that sort of money shouldn’t be too much of a problem for clubs with the financial muscle of Chelsea or United but we’ll have to wait and see whether they decide to make their interest official with firm bids this summer.

Chelsea are storming their way to the title but Antonio Conte is still expected to further strengthen his squad this summer and Bakayoko has the potential to form a rock solid partnership alongside N’Golo Kante.

United are also expected to be busy in the market this summer and Jose Mourinho may be eyeing the Monaco star as a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick.
