Liverpool Join Arsenal & Tottenham In Race To Sign Prolific £60m Hitman

Liverpool are ready to battle-it-out with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur over the signing of Lyon’s £60m-rated striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer

The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, more on the future of Alexandre Lacazette…

Liverpool are ready to battle-it-out with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur over the signing of Lyon’s £60m-rated striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.

The French international has forged a reputation as one of the deadliest strikers in Europe over the past few years and he’s enjoying another prolific campaign having scored 26 goals in his 30 appearances so far.

Lacazette has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and was tipped to make a switch to England last summer before eventually being persuaded to sign a new deal with Lyon.

However, the striker was quoted in the Mirror as saying earlier this month that he’s decided this will be his last season at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais as he’s ready to take the next step in his career.

“I think that this summer will be the time where I will need a change of scenery and discover something else, still with the idea of advancing and progressing in terms of football and as a person.

“I am going to continue to work, in the hope that good opportunities will come this summer.”

It seems this admission has alerted a host of top European clubs as the Mirror claim that Liverpool have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race to sign Lacazette while Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are also understood to be keen.

Daniel Sturridge is expected to leave Anfield this summer after another frustrating campaign and Jurgen Klopp could be eyeing Lacazette as a potential replacement for the England international.

Arsenal may be in the market for a new frontman if they’re forced to cash-in on contract rebel Alexis Sanchez and the Lyon hitman has all the attributes needed to be a success at the Emirates.

We shouldn’t discount Tottenham from the race either as Mouricio Pochettino badly needs support for Harry Kane as they are far too reliant on him up front with Vincent Jansssen failing to adapt to life in England following his move last summer.

However, the Premier League trio will need to dig deep if they want to land Lacazette as the Mirror claim that Lyon want £60m for the 25-year-old, which would represent a new transfer record for all three clubs.
