[Video Goals] Leicester 3-1 Liverpool: Vardy Double Sinks Reds

Jamie Vardy scored twice as Leicester City started the post-Ranieri era with an impressive 3-1 victory over Liverpool at the King Power tonight.

Leicester broke the deadlock midway through the first half when Mark Albrighton pounced on a stray pass from Gini Wijnaldum before setting Vardy clear with a pin-point throughball and the striker made no mistake to make it 1-0.

The defending Premier League champions then doubled their advantage shortly before half time when Danny Drinkwater crashed home a stunning volley to put the hosts in control at the break.

Leicester went 3-0 ahead in the 60th minute when Vardy headed home from a Fuchs cross before Philippe Coutinho pulled one back with a fine strike from the edge of the box to make it 3-1 in the 68th minute.

However, there was to be no late comeback for the Merseysiders so they slumped to a 3-1 defeat which dents their top four hopes while Leicester gave their survival hopes a major boost.
