Chelsea Favourites Ahead Of Man Utd To Land Serie A Star, Club Ready To Sell

Chelsea are favourites ahead of Man Utd to sign Leonardo Bonucci with Juventus ready to sell the star this summer following his bust-up with boss Max Allegri

The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Chelsea are linked with Leonardo Bonucci….

Chelsea are favourites ahead of Manchester United to sign Leonardo Bonucci with Juventus ready to sell the centre-back this summer following his bust-up with boss Max Allegri, according to the Express.

Bonucci has become one of the best central defenders in world football since joining Juve from Bari in 2010 with his rock solid performances at the back helping them to five consecutive league titles.

The 29-year-old has continued to impress this season as the Bianconeri storm their way to yet another Serie A title, however, the centre-backs future in Turin has been cast in doubt in recent weeks.

Bonucci was involved in a very public bust-up with boss Max Allegri earlier this month and was subsequently dropped for their Champions League clash with Porto last week.

The Express claim that Juventus are now happy to sell the defender at the end of the season following the fall out and it appears this news has alerted clubs here in the Premier League.

The newspaper says that Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have all shown interest in signing Bonucci but it’s the league leaders who are considered as the front-runners for his signature.

Antonio Conte knows Bonucci well from their time together at Juventus and the Italian national team so it came as no surprise when he was linked with a move for the centre-back following his arrival at Stamford Bridge last summer.

Conte is expected to be in the market for another central defender this summer to replace John Terry and the Express claim that Chelsea are now ready to revive their interest in Bonucci by launching a formal move.

We’ll have to wait and see whether the defender resolves his differences with Allegri over the coming weeks but if not then I wouldn’t be surprised to see him leave this summer and a move to England could be on the cards.

Chelsea appear to be favourites but I wouldn’t discount United from the race just yet as Jose Mourinho is being tipped to strengthen his defence this summer and Bonucci is the type of top quality player the Portuguese coach will be looking for.
