Man Utd Join Chelsea In Plotting Audacious Swoop For Want-Away Arsenal Star

The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Man Utd are linked with Alexis Sanchez….
Manchester United have joined Chelsea in plotting a sensational summer swoop for want-away Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, according to the Express.
Sanchez is approaching the final year of his contract at the Emirates and his future is in serious doubt as the north Londoners are struggling to agree terms over an extension despite holding extensive talks with his representatives.
The Chilean international was widely reported to have been involved in a training ground bust-up earlier this month which led to him being dropped for the trip to Liverpool last weekend.
It’s all led to intense speculation that Sanchez has decided to quit Arsenal at the end of the season with the Gunners expected to cash-in on their asset rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2018.
Understandably, there appears to be no shortage of interest in his signature with the Express claiming that Chelsea are keeping a close eye on his situation ahead of a potential swoop this summer.
However, it looks as though the Blues will face stiff competition from Manchester United as the newspaper suggests that Jose Mourinho is also plotting an audacious move for Sanchez.
The United boss is in the market for another striker this summer with Wayne Rooney tipped to leave after falling out of favour while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is yet to sign a new contract with his deal up in June.
The Express claim that Antoine Griezmann is United’s top target but the Frenchman has hinted he’ll stay at Atletico Madrid this summer so Mourinho is now hoping to lure Sanchez to Old Trafford instead.
Obviously the South American would be a sensational signing for either Chelsea or United if they could somehow agree a deal with Arsenal, however, the Gunners will no doubt be reluctant to sell to a domestic rival.
With the likes of PSG and Juventus also strongly linked with Sanchez in recent weeks I think it’s safe to assume Arsenal would much rather do business with them if they are forced to cash-in on their star man.
One things for sure, whoever Sanchez is playing for next season can thank themselves fortunate as the 28-year-old has proven to be a superb signing for Arsenal having scored 62 goals and provided 40 assists in his 129 appearances since joining from Barcelona.
