Barca Superstar Eyes PL Move & ‘Admires’ Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal & Liverpool
Barcelona superstar Neymar has admitted he’d like to play in the Premier League one day and says he admires Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal
Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Neymar has put a whole host of Premier League clubs on red alert….
Barcelona superstar Neymar has admitted he’d like to play in the Premier League one day and says he admires Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail.
Neymar has become one of the best players in the world since joining Barca from Santos in 2013 with his 99 goals and 76 assists helping the Catalan giants to a whole host of honours including 2 La Liga titles and the Champions League.
The 25-year-old currently plays alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in arguably the most dangerous front three in football and he recently committed himself to the Nou Camp by signing a new deal until 2021.
However, the Brazilian sensation has now opened the door to a move to England at some point in the future after admitting that he’d like to play in the Premier League as he loves the playing style and the unpredictable nature of the league.
Neymar then went on to name Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool as the clubs he admires here and also named Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola as managers he’s like to work under.
The Barca attacker is quoted by the Daily Mail as telling SunSport:
‘The Premier League is a championship that amazes me. I like the playing style and the teams. And who knows, someday, I would like to play at it, yes.
‘In the Premier League you never know who is going to win or who will be champions, it is always a surprise.’
‘I admire Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool — these are the teams that are always there fighting.
‘And then you have high-level coaches like [Jose] Mourinho and [Pep] Guardiola. These are coaches with whom any player would like to work.’
Obviously any team in the world would love to sign Neymar and it would be amazing to see him plying his trade here in the Premier League so hopefully we’ll see it happen one day.
However, it’s going to take HUGE money to lure him away from Barcelona and while I’m sure Arsenal and Liverpool fans are pleased to hear of Neymar’s admiration for their clubs, I highly doubt either has the financial resources to secure a deal.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has tightened the purse strings in recent years but there’s no doubt he has the money to sign Neymar if he wanted to make a statement by bringing a proper superstar to Stamford Bridge.
However, of the four clubs named by Neymar, it’s safe to say United are best placed to pull off a deal as they have the financial firepower to match any club in the world.
The Red Devils proved in the summer they are willing to spend huge money after breaking the world transfer record to sign Paul Pogba and I wouldn’t bet against them doing it again to land Neymar when he eventually decides to leave Barca.
I don’t see that happening for at least another 3 years but maybe by the time he approaches 30 he might think about a new challenge and I’d love to see him come to English football.
