Agent Suggests Chelsea & Man Utd Target Is Ready For Big-Money Summer Move

The agent of Marco Verratti has put Chelsea and Manchester United on red alert after suggesting that the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is eyeing a move this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.

Verratti has developed in to one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Europe since moving to France from Pescara in 2012 and he’s been a key part of the PSG side over the past five seasons.

The Italian international has attracted a whole host of admirers with the Mirror claiming that Chelsea and Manchester United are both keen on luring the midfielder to the Premier League.

The English giants have now been handed a major boost after Verratti’s agent, Donato di Campli, suggested that the 24-year-old is now ready to join a top European club this summer.

Campli claims PSG aren’t able to provide Verratti with the chance to become a ‘champion’ – presumably in reference to their humiliating exit from the Champions League – but says he could be open to joining a top side in England, Spain or Germany at the end of the season.

The agent is quoted by the Mirror as telling Gazzetta dello Sport:

“The situation is very complicated – he has a very good contract until 2021. He wants to win and PSG, like it is, cannot win. He has been in Paris for five years now and he has to make a decision: earn a lot and not win or earn and become a champion.

“It is not a problem of money. Whoever signs Verratti will pay him a lot of money. One thing is certain: if he leaves PSG, it will be for a top European club.

“There are some top Italian clubs but I have my doubts Italy will be his final destination. Spain, the Premier League or the Bundesliga? A top European club.”

To me this looks like the agent is already trying to engineer a move away from the Parc des Princes this summer and I’d love to see Verratti come to the Premier League as he’s one of the best all-round midfielders in Europe.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is expected to further strengthen his squad this summer ahead of their return to the Champions League and Verratti would forge a devastating partnership alongside N’Golo Kante if he was to move to Stamford Bridge.

However, United are also likely to be in the market for another central midfielder this summer as Jose Mourinho needs a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick and Verratti would be an ideal choice.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but PSG will no doubt demand huge money if they agree to cash-in on Verratti this summer, plus Chelsea and United are likely to face stiff competition for his signature.
