Man Utd Ready To Sign International Midfielder In £40m Deal Following Talks

Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Manchester United are linked with Marcelo Brozovic….

Manchester United are ready to trigger Marcelo Brozovic’s £40m release clause after holding talks with Inter Milan about the midfielder’s availability this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.

Brozovic joined Inter from Dinamo Zagreb in 2015 and has enjoyed mixed success at the San Siro having scored 13 goals and provided a further 10 assists in his 73 appearances so far.

The Croatian international has been in and out the starting eleven over the past two years with a series of niggling injuries hampering his progress but he’s still highly regarded as a midfielder with huge potential.

It seems Jose Mourinho is a fan of the 24-year-old’s as the Mirror claim that the United boss has expressed an interest in signing Brozovic and Inter team-mate Ivan Perisic this summer.

The newspaper says that Mourinho has held talks over the duo where the Portuguese coach was informed that Inter aren’t confident of keeping hold of Brozovic due to the £40m release clause that’s written in to his contract.

The Mirror cite a report coming from Italian outlet Calciomercato that claims United are now ready to meet that figure and do a deal that would see Brozovic head to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Mourinho is gearing up for what’s expected to be another busy summer of activity in Manchester and the United boss needs to find a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick – who is out-of-contract in June and turns 36 this summer.

Brozovic has made his name as a deep-lying midfielder who’s known for his passing ability so he could be viewed as the ideal man to take over from Carrick at the heart of United’s midfield.

If the Croatian star does end up moving to Old Trafford at the end of the season, he’ll look to form an exciting midfield alongside Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba next season, however, there’s still a long way to go before a deal is finalised so we’ll just have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks.
