Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are heavily linked with Alexis Sanchez….
Chelsea have made Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez a prime transfer target as Antonio Conte looks to bring in four big-money signings this summer, according to the Guardian.
The Blues are storming their way to the Premier League title but Conte is still set to further strengthen his squad ahead of their return to the Champions League and has already outlined his transfer targets for the summer.
The Guardian claim that Conte held a meeting with director Marina Granovskaia and technical director Michael Emenalo where he provided a list of names he want’s the club to sign with Sanchez topping his wish-list.
Sanchez is nearing the final year of his contract at the Emirates and is expected to push for a move this summer after failing to agree terms over a new deal with the attacker wanting to almost double his current £130,000-a-week wages.
The attacker is also growing increasingly frustrated with Arsenal’s lack of progress on the pitch and it looks as though he’s now ready for a new challenge which could come across London at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are yet to make any formal move for the 28-year-old but the Guardian say Sanchez’s agent is aware of their interest but the Blues will face stiff competition from the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and PSG.
No doubt Arsenal would rather sell abroad than to a domestic rival if they are forced to cash-in on Sanchez this summer as the club would come under even more scrutiny from an already disgruntled fan-base if they were to allow Sanchez to follow in the foot-steps of Ashley Cole in joining Chelsea.
No final decision if expected on Sanchez’s future until the end of the season when Arsenal will know whether they finish in the top four while Arsene Wenger’s future is also likely to play a key role so Chelsea will just have to see how things progress over the coming weeks.
However, the west Londoners have plenty of other transfers to work on as the Guardian claim that Conte wants at least three other signings in addition to Sanchez with a new left-back, central midfielder and striker on the agenda.
The newspaper says that Bayern Munich’s David Alaba and Juventus’s Alex Sandro are Conte’s left-back targets while the club are hopeful of completing a deal to sign Monaco midfielder Tiemoué Bakayoko.
The report also indicates that Diego Costa is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer with the club eyeing Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and Everton’s Romalu Lukaku as potential replacements.
Obviously it would be a blow for Chelsea to lose a player of Costa’s quality but I’m sure fans would forgive the club if they managed to sign Morata, Sanchez, Bakayoko and Alaba.
It’s gearing up to be an exciting summer at Chelsea with Conte eyeing some ambitious targets but Arsenal fans will be praying the Italian isn’t successful in luring their star man across London this summer.
