Manchester United are set to offer star striker Wayne Rooney a new 5-year-deal worth £150,000 a week in a bid to prevent Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid from trying to snatch their main man.

It is understood that Rooney has no wish to leave United but wants a deal that reflects his importance to the team. With Rooney in hot form right now, following his 4 goal haul against Hull at the weekend, it is hard to argue against giving the striker what ever he wants to keep him at Old Trafford. The news of a fresh contract is sure to please United fans. Following the recent release of club accounts showing mounting debts, some have suggesting they may have to offload players to service repayments, and the thought of losing Rooney may have been too much for them to take.
