Arsenal will look to get their season back on track when they entertain Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The pressure is mounting on Arsene Wenger’s shoulders following the 3-1 defeat at West Brom before the international break which made it four losses in their last five league games.

Another defeat tomorrow could be the final straw for disgruntled Gooners as it would leave Arsenal down in sixth position in the table and nine points adrift of the top four.

However, a much-needed win would see the north Londoners climb up to fifth and move to within just four points of City with a game in hand so it’s all to play for in the race for Champions League qualification.

Team News

Arsenal will have to make do without number one goalkeeper Petr Cech after he suffered a calf strain during the West Brom game earlier this month so David Ospina will start in goal.

Mesut Ozil is in contention to make his first start in over six weeks after recovering from hamstring and back injuries that have hampered him this month.

Alexis Sanchez is also expected to be fit after easing fears over the ankle problem that he picked up at the Hawthorns by playing 180 minutes for Chile during the international break.

However, Lucas Perez remains out with a thigh injury so he stays on the sidelines along with long-term absentee Santi Cazorla – who isn’t expected to play again this season.

City have been boosted by the news that Kevin De Bruyne is available after recovering from a groin injury that kept him out of action for Belgium last week while Pablo Zabaleta is also available despite picking up a knock while away with Argentina.

Raheem Sterling has also been passed fit after suffering a minor back injury during England’s World Cup qualifying win over Lithuania but Gabriel Jesus and Ilkay Gundogan remain out.

Likely Line-Ups

Predicted Score

Arsenal 2-2 Man City: The Gunners are in shocking form right now and will have to produce a far better performance that they’ve done in recent weeks if they’re to get anything from this game. The north Londoners do have an excellent record against City having lost just one of their last 19 league games at home so they’ll be looking to maintain that record tomorrow.

Arsenal and City are arguably the two most entertaining sides in the league so this should be a thrilling game which could see plenty of goals, but I’m going to sit on the fence and go for a 2-2 draw.
