[Video Goals] Middlesbrough 1-2 Arsenal: Sanchez & Ozil On Target For Gunners

By on April 17, 2017

Alexis Sanchez scored the pick of the goals as Arsenal secured a much-needed 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium this evening.

The change in formation seemed to play it’s part in a slow start as the players got to grips with their new roles but we slowly grew in to the game and certainly looked more solid at the back.

We were struggling to create anything of note in the final third and it looked as though we were heading in to half-time at 0-0 before Sanchez broke the deadlock with a stunning free-kick in the 42nd minute.

Middlesbrough levelled things up just minutes after the restart as Stewart Downing found Alvaro Negredo with a pin-point cross and the striker made no mistake to make it 1-1 in the 50th minute.

We responded well and restored our advantage as Mesut Ozil fired home after being teed-up by a clever chest down by Aaron Ramsey in the 72nd minute.

The hosts pushed for a late equaliser but we held out to secure a vital win that sees us close the gap on the top four to seven points – although we do have at least one game in hand on our rivals.
