Liverpool are set to beat Everton to the signing of Joe Hart with the Manchester City goalkeeper expected to move to Anfield in a £20m deal this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.

Hart was forced to join Torino on loan last summer after being frozen out following the arrival of Pep Guardiola with the former Barcelona boss signing Claudio Bravo as his new No.1.

Things haven’t worked out for Bravo in the Premier League but Hart is still not expected to be given another chance to resurrect his City career when he returns to the club at the end of the season, despite showing some excellent form in Italy.

Therefore, a permanent move away from the Etihad Stadium is on the cards this summer and while Torino have shown an interest in keeping hold of the keeper, it looks like Hart is ready to return to England.

The Mirror are citing a report from The Sun that claims Liverpool are set to beat Mersey rivals Everton to Hart’s signature by wrapping-up a £20m deal for the City stopper this summer.

Simon Mignolet has been showing signs of his best form again in recent weeks following a disappointing campaign but the Belgian international is still too inconsistent to be relied upon if Liverpool want to be genuine title challengers.

Jurgen Klopp has always publicly insisted that he’s happy with his goalkeepers but if this report is accurate then it seems he’s still looking to bring in a new number one this summer.

Hart should be a popular choice with the fans as the England international is a top class keeper who will be a big upgrade on Mignolet so I think it would be a good piece of business if Liverpool have persuaded City to do a deal despite being rivals.
