Arsenal Team News: Wenger Rules Trio Out Of Man City + Attacker Also A Doubt

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he’ll be without three of his squad for Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Man City while an attacker is also a doubt.

Arsenal will look to book their place in the final of the FA Cup when we take on Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, Arsene Wenger has been speaking to the media at his press conference this morning and he’s offered a team news and injury update.

Unfortunately, the boss has confirmed that we’ll be without three of our first team squad with Shkodran Mustafi, David Ospina and Lucas Perez all ruled out this weekend.

Mustafi was forced to sit out our 2-1 win at Middlesbrough earlier this week after picking up a thigh injury and the German defender will continue on the sidelines against City.

Ospina has been forced to miss the last three matches after sustaining a muscle problem during our draw with City on April 2nd and the Colombian international has also been ruled out of the FA Cup semi-final.

Perez on the other hand hasn’t been seen for well over a month after suffering a thigh injury during the quarter final win over Lincoln City in March and Wenger says the Spaniard is still out with what he describes as a longer term injury.

Thankfully we didn’t pick up any more injuries against Middlesbrough but the boss has revealed that Danny Welbeck remains a doubt after sitting out the trip to Teeside on Monday night due to a minor toe problem.

Here is what Wenger is quoted as saying by Football London:

“From our last game everyone should be avaialble.

“We have uncertainties over Welbeck, Mustafi is out, Ospina and Lucas are out – they are more long-term.

“Ospina could maybe be back in about 10 days time.”

If Welbeck is once again ruled out then I expect we’ll see Olivier Giroud continue up front while Wenger is likely to choose Petr Cech over Emiliano Martinez with usual FA Cup keeper out.

With Mustafi also unavailable, Rob Holding could keep his place alongside Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel if the boss sticks with three at the back on Sunday.
