Jurgen Klopp has confirmed a double injury blow ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Crystal Palace while he also provided updates on Henderson and Lallana

Liverpool will look to cement their position in the top four of the Premier League table when they take on Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his press conference this morning and he’s offered a team news and injury update.

Unfortunately, the Reds boss has confirmed he’s facing a selection headache in defence as Joel Matip and Lucas Leiva are set to join Ragnar Klavan on the sidelines after picking up knocks this week.

Klopp says that Matip has been unable to practice due to a muscle problem, Leiva has a small knee issue while Klavan is also still nursing a knock which kept him out of last weekend’s win at West Brom.

With three of his centre-backs highly doubtful for Sunday’s clash, the Liverpool boss has conceded he may be forced to call upon youngster Joe Gomez to partner Dejan Lovren against Palace.

There is also a concerning update on Jordan Henderson as Klopp says the midfielder may not play again this season as he’s still unable to resume training due to an on-going foot injury that’s hampered him in recent months.

However, there was more positive news on Adam Lallana as the England star is making good progress on his recovery from a thigh injury which he suffered on international last month.

Lallana won’t be available to face Palace this weekend but the midfielder is due to return to full training next week so could be in contention for the trip to Watford on May 1st.

Klopp also provided the latest on Danny Ings and says the striker is back running again as he steps-up his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury but is still unlikely to play again this season.

The Reds boss is quoted as saying by TeamTalk:

“Danny Ings after a long time in the gym is running. He looks good, he enjoys it a lot. But of course not even close to come back.”

“A few little things from the last game. Little muscle problems for Joel Matip. Lucas Leiva still has a little problem. Very small knee ligament but could be also not enough time until Crystal Palace so will be interesting. It looks good at the moment though.”

“We have to find a solution for the weekend. It’s not too cool. Joe Gomez played again for u23s this week. Maybe we will try him. It’s not 100% that Matip/Lucas/Klavan will be out but they are not training in this moment.”

“Nothing new on Jordan. At this moment, he can’t really train. If there was something else to say I would say but this is the situation in this moment.”

“We have to wait. He is already not patient anymore. It’s not cool. At this moment he cannot really train.”

“Adam is in a good way working with the rehab coach. He should be in full training next week, Wednesday or Thursday”

Liverpool head in to the weekend action sitting third in the table but with fifth-placed Manchester United six points behind with two games in hand, Klopp will be desperate to tighten their grip with a win over Palace on Sunday.
